THE NATURALS BY JENNIFER LYNN BARNES

While I was strolling down the aisles of Barnes and Nobles I had come across a book called The Naturals. As any reader would do, I read the back. After reading the back and a few of the first pages, I was unsure if I wanted to invest time and money into this book for I never heard of it and can't go off of the reviews of other people. Unconvinced, I put the book down and left the store after picking up a quick hot drink from Starbucks. It was later that night though I started to think about the book more, so I do what I always do when I'm unsure of a book, I get a sample off my Kindle. Even after reading the sample I wasn't "wow I need to go get this book" but I'll admit, the basic plot drew me in. I was curious to find out why the FBI would want recruit the main protagonist Cassie, or how they knew about her abilities?
Sure enough, at 8:00 A.M. I was standing at the counter of my Barnes and Nobles buying the book The Naturals. I started it as soon as I got home and the deeper I got into the book, the more intrigued I got in the story line. Soon it became a challenge to put it down. The book was wonderfully written and the characters are easy to fall in love with.
The main plot line is this: Cassie, a seventeen-year-old girl, lives with her relatives after her mother's mysterious death. One morning, as Cassie was working at her family's dinner, a boy comes in a gives a business card to Cassie. On that business card there is a phone number to the company and a signature saying it was from the FBI. Though what was strange about is was the fact that on the back of the card it had her name on it.
As any curious teenager would do, Cassie calls the number. Turns out the FBI is trying to recruit her into a program called The Naturals.
This book is filled with twist and turns and honestly at some points I didn't know what to think. Throughout the book the characters are trying to figure out who is involved in all these murder cases, and at the end of the chapter we even get to read a page or two in the criminal's point of view. Normally, I'm really good at guessing who did what in books, but here, I had no idea who it was till it was revealed to me in the final pages.
All the characters are interesting to read about and honestly, I can't say I can pick just one favorite character. Everyone that lives in the house has some natural ability that is the reason why they’re in this program to begin with. We learn that almost all the characters joined this program in a way to escape their mysterious past. There are a few loose ends in this books that relates to the characters that I hope we get answers to in the second book.
Overall I would give this book a 5/5 stars and suggest it to anyone who likes to watch crime solving shows. This book will truly take your breath away and leave you guessing to the very last page.
